Enterprises’ investment abroad is indispensable trend in globalization period. Moreover, overseas investment brings a number of practical benefits to enterprises, not just market expansion and sales and profit increase, but also experience improvement in reaching customers differently, enhancement in personnel, operational, and technological capability; in broad meaning, it helps upgrade enterprises’ competitiveness, while providing the opportunity to access and exploit natural and other resources in a foreign country when domestic conditions are getting narrowed.
In the growing trend of overseas investment from developing and emerging countries and enterprises in many countries have achieved successes, Vietnam’s enterprises now remain relatively hesitant before opportunities. Reasons for this are many, but mainly the inexperience and incapability in terms of finance and organization.
In that context, Vietnam Report publishes the VNR Quarterly Report No 12 for quarter 2 2011 on the subject “Vietnam’s Enterprises and Outward Investment” including articles summarizing and analyzing the world trend of outbound investment, the situation of Vietnam’s enterprises’ investment abroad as well as reasons for their successes and limitations, while providing studies for specific successful cases so as to draw valuable lessons for enterprises.
